A stunning original design, inspired by ferny Spring glades, reversible so you can wear it either way and have two necklaces in one!
This necklace features rare Russian Charoite - hues of purple with feathery, pearly wisps. Charoite comes from only one small region in Russia, and is a relatively newly discovered stone. It has quickly become on eof my favorite stones, and it just happens to be Pantone's color of the year - Ultra Violet.
The stone is securely held by intricately and meticulously woven copper wire. This pendant has been entirely handmade from recycled copper wire. Recycled copper electrical wire is 100% pure copper, unalloyed, so guaranteed nickel and lead free. I cleaned and straightened the wire, wove and shaped it, antiqued it with a patina finish, then polished and burnished it to a rich glow. The pendant measures about 2 inches high to the top of the bail (5 cm), and 1.5 inches wide (4 cm).
The matching chain is adjustable, from 16 to 19 inches, with a hand forged extender and hook-and-loop closure. The necklace has been signed by hand, on a tiny (1.5 cm or 5/8") leaf dangling from the hook, with both my initials and the year the necklace was made. This tag, too, was recycled - I made it from an old Canadian penny, which I heated and hammered repeatedly, then drilled, sawed, buffed until smooth, engraved, then antiqued and polished.
This necklace is entirely one of a kind.
